LETTER TO THE EDITOR – JANUARY 1999

Appreciate your continued good work on the newsletter.....great value for money! In fact, the first article I read after renewing was worth the price of subscribing.....re IGF-1 and cancer. We were considering a new supplement that supposedly stimulates the production of human growth hormone/IGF-1.

Editor: I am glad you decided not to get involved with GH enhancers. They are bad news for most people. I recently spoke to Dr. Derek LeRoith at the National Institutes of Health about them. He is an acknowledged expert in this field and his comments were "There is now enough evidence that taking GH supplements when you are not deficient will increase your risk of cancer and acromegaly." He added "If you ask me if I would take them, the answer is a definite no."
