LETTER TO THE EDITOR – MARCH 2002 I was wondering if there is such a thing as taking too much vitamin-C and if there is what is the limit? AF, USA Editor: The official upper safe limit is 2000 mg/day. Healthy people would get all the vitamin C they can absorb by taking 400 to 500 mg three times a day. Sick people may require more. Even large quantities (10 to 20 grams/day) of vitamin C are probably safe, unless you suffer from hemochromatosis (iron overload). |
